Cobalt Rose China
The Cobalt Rose Design on these dollhouse miniatures is designed to resemble patterns used around the turn of the century by Nippon china manufacturers.
These patterns all had three things in common: a cobalt ground partially surrounding areas of white china, which were painted with roses and a raised gold design. The raised gold designs cover the line where the cobalt meets the white china and depending upon the design may go around the edge of the china, or around the roses, or it may have patterns that cover the cobalt areas.
All of the pieces with this design are 100% hand drawn hand painted designs. The gold used on these pieces is a burnished gold over a raised paste. Burnished gold is more expensive due to its high gold content and has a richer satin finish as compared to the more common liquid brite gold.
The designs which you see on this page are done with one style of pattern and are representative of the way I apply this design to most pieces. On larger pieces or pieces with larger cobalt areas I may put more raised gold in the cobalt areas.
Most of my china shapes can be ordered with the Cobalt Rose design. They can be ordered from the
